Nang K’aajuus is a multidisciplinary artist residing in Skidegate, Haida Gwaii. She belongs to the Ganhada Gitwilgyoots tribe in the house of Logisgyigoo. She is also an adopted member of the Naa.uu.ans clan from Haida Gwaii. Thanks to her upbringing, she was surrounded by her mothers Tsm’syen artworks. Her mother, Dzaga’adkt (Lianna Spence), raised and nurtured her to be the artist she has become.
Nang K’aajuus became inspired to be more immersed in her culture after attending the Tribal Journey 2023. That fall, she began her education at the Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art.
She draws from the old masters of the classical era. As an indigenous artist, she feels responsible for upholding the standard of those masters who came before her. She strives to achieve that high level of skill and continues her education under her mentors David Boxley Jr and Cori Yahl ‘Aadas. She feels it’s important to uplift her people and wants to do so one day by creating monumental works.
