The Frank O'Neill Visionary Award
The Vancouver Airport Authority created this $5,000 annual award in 2006 to provide training, support and recognition to an Aboriginal youth who exhibits an exceptional aptitude in the arts, community service or aviation.
This Award honors the cultural and aviation vision and contributions made by Frank O'Neill. Frank was a Founding Director and President of the YVRAF from 1998 to 2005.
He was General Manager of YVR from 1987 to 1992 and President and CEO of YVR Airport Services Ltd from 1992 until his retirement in 2006. Today he continues his connection by serving as Honorary Chair.
The 2010 Frank O'Neill Visionary Awards was won by Lacy Morin-Desjarlais. Lacy has a diploma in Fine Arts from Langara College and is currently studying Child and Youth Care Counceling. During the next year, Lacy plans to work with mentor Amy George to learn cedar weaving. She hopes to complete a cedar hat and traditional regalia during her program of study.
The recipient of the 2009 Frank O'Neill Visionary Award was Clyde Tallio.
The recipient of the 2008 Frank O'Neill Visionary Award was Robert Long.
The recipient of the 2007 Frank O'Neill Visionary Award was Allan Keshane Weir.
