The YVR Art Foundation
The YVR Art Foundation is run by a board of dedicated volunteers and is proud of its role in developing and maintaining this outstanding collection of First Nations artwork at the YVR. Funds from the Foundation are used to commission work from emerging and well-known artists.
The YVR is an ideal place to display these spectacular and inspirational works of art. Magnificent and inspiring sculptural installations are viewed daily by thousands of people, from all cultures and all levels of appreciation. The sheer scale of the airport provides a stage for the monumental art, while avoiding the quiet and hushed atmosphere common with art museums.
“Land, sea and sky”, are the roadways of travel, and they are the themes for the YVR. Spectacularly represented in British Columbia’s landscape, they are also central themes in Northwest Coast native art. Encompassing many nations, Northwest Coast natives have lived in British Columbia for thousands of years and they represent one of the world’s oldest cultural groups.
The YVRAF works in partnership with the University of British Columbia Museum of Anthropology, the Vancouver Museum and the Royal British Columbia Museum.
The Foundation is incorporated as a charitable organization with all contributions and donations generating a receipt for income tax purposes.
