Scholarship Criteria
The applicant can propose attendance at workshops or schools of art, or to work with masters, mentors or elders in particular media. Within a period of one year, the artist must complete a project that demonstrates the development of skills and techniques learned as a result of the scholarship. This work will be displayed at the Vancouver International Airport.
YVRAF Scholarships are available to individuals meeting the following criteria:
- Aboriginal residing in British Columbia.
- Youth 25 years of age or younger.
- Emerging artists who can demonstrate potential in visual arts, in the Northwest Coast style.
- Emerging artists who can create projects that are suitable for display in public buildings.
Emily Carr University and the Northwest Community College establish their own eligibility criteria, which generally matches criteria for the YVRAF Scholarship above, except the educational institutions may award to artists over 25 years of age.
Scholarship Amount
Annual scholarships up to $5,000 are awarded for eligible activities.
