The Vancouver Airport is an ideal place to display these spectacular and inspirational works of art. These installations are viewed daily by thousands of people, from all cultures and all levels of appreciation. The sheer scale of the airport provides a stage for this monumental art, distant from the quiet and hushed atmosphere common with art museums.
“Land, sea and sky,” are the roadways of travel, and these are the themes for the Vancouver Airport. Spectacularly represented in British Columbia’s landscape, they are also central themes in Northwest Coast Aboriginal art. Encompassing many nations, Northwest Coast Aboriginal peoples have lived in British Columbia for thousands of years and they represent one of the world’s oldest cultural groups.
The YVRAF works in partnership with local galleries, the University of British Columbia Museum of Anthropology, the Vancouver Museum and the Royal British Columbia Museum.
The Foundation is incorporated as a charitable organization with all contributions and donations generating a receipt for income tax purposes.
